Here are the basic rules. -------------------------------------------- Show locations at the start of posts (if it has changed), and the time (if it has changed) like this: <<USS Columbia Bridge, 2250 hours>> <<Shuttlecraft 2>> <<Half an hour later>> -------------------------------------------- Another system is that of how to post in the story and out of the story. When you want to start a story addition, sign ON: When you want to post off topic, sign OFF: -------------------------------------------- Do not make short posts that add to the story. Make the post add something to the post, and make the story advance slowly. Most importantly, do not be a hero. Do not solve it all in one post. Do not break the chain of command. -------------------------------------------- We are also adding NPCs to the game (non player characters). Feel free to use these in your posts, but do not abuse them, and do not kill them off. -------------------------------------------- Anything over the comm should say who is saying it, and then saying the speech with the '+' symbol around it. It should look like this: Simmo: +Captain Simmo to Commander Scooter, report to the bridge.+ Scooter: +Aye, sir.+ -------------------------------------------- Sample post. Try to post like this. NOTE: This is just a guideline. -------------------------------------------- ON =Mess Hall, Starbase Tango= It was another ordinary day for Cadet Peterson. He was sat in the mess hall eating his dinner, a simple dinner as usual: a sandwich. He was studying the information on a padd ready for his next class. Suddenly, he heard Captain Warner speak over the comm system. Warner: +To all Cadets, grab your gear and report to me on the bridge of the USS Yeager. Captain Warner out+ Well, he thought, this is probably just be another surprise training simulation, the academy was famous for pulling tricks like that on cadets, but the cadet had grown used to them by now. He picked up his padd, and walked for the door. On the way to the ship he saw Cadet Stark was behind him. Peterson: *Stops and waits for Cadet Stark to catch up* Looking forward to the simulation? Stark: *Looks confused.* What? This is an important mission we're leaving on. Peterson: Really, I thought it was another training exercise. Better get a move on. The two cadets start to walk hastily toward the Yeager. <<7 minutes later>> Cadet Peterson arrived at the airlock to the Yeager. Warner: +Cadet Peterson, why haven't you arrived on the bridge yet? We're all waiting for you here. Hurry up.+ Peterson: =/\= Sorry sir, I'm nearly there. Warner: +Alright then. It better not happen again.+ Peterson: It won't. Peterson out. =/\= With this, Cadet Peterson and Cadet Stark thought it best to run. They ran as fast as they could to the nearest Turbolift. <<1 minute later>> Running out onto the bridge from the Turbolift, the two saw cadets rushing around, hurrying to get ready for the ship to depart. Peterson: *Out of breath.* Cadet Peterson, reporting for duty, sir. Simmo666 Rear Admiral Posts: 4620 Join Date: 12-01-2002 Posted at 9:20 pm, 17th June 2002 ============= START OF MISSION ============= ON: Captain's Log Stardate 54208.9 The newly christened USS Columbia NCC-85622 has been sent to the Orias system to help in relief efforts for the crisis on the second planet in the system. A major breakdown in one of the power plants in the capital city caused a radiation leak and has caused a severe medical crisis there. The radiation field means that transporters will not function meaning the sick will need to be taken aboard in shuttles. Engineering teams will be beamed down in radiation suits to try and repair the reactor. It is also reported that the Cardassians are trying to take advantage of the situation. Security will need to be on the lookout while we evacuate the sick and transport them aboard for treatment. The phasers are directly linked to the core. If you short out the phaser emiters, you could send a surge to the warp core and destroy us. There are safeties in place to prevent this buteverything on this ship is so overpowered that I doubt that the safties would work.+ OFF: Commander Sporto78 Chief Engineer U.S.S. It should now be safe to accelerate to warp 9. Obiko Dozen-Handed Lieutenant Posts: 246 Join Date: 10-06-2002 Posted at 8:13 pm, 20th June 2002 ON Lieutenant Obiko was in Commander Scooter's office, swinging around in his commanding officer's swivel chair, when he saw the doors opening. Since he knew the Commander was on the bridge, and he knew Kolell was in her quarters, he jumped up. He had a question to ask the Commander, and he didn't want to be caught messing while on shift. The person in front of him wasn't Commander Scooter, however. He looked human, but with his long, scraggly hair covering his ears he could be Vulcan or Romulan. Obiko's hand went to his badge, but the stranger held up a phaser. "Don't move, medicine boy," he said in a gruff, impatient voice. He motioned with the phaser, and Obiko, weaponless, marched obediently to the corner. "You and I are going to play a little game called 'Siege'" the man said. I've locked down the doors to engineering so that only senior officers can open them. Just in case the stowaway tries to mess with the core. I'll try to get the sensors online+ *Pulls out his tricorder. Starts to scan the gel packs* Sporto notices an odd obejct attached to the wall behind the gel packs. He pointed his tricorder at the device and ran a scan. +Sporto78 to bridge, I've discovered some kind of device attached to the main gel pack computer node...wait...I'm getting a strange reading...Oh CRAP! It's a B...+ Before he can get the warning out, the device exploded in a bright flash and deafning BOOM. Sporto was thrown clear across the room by the shockwave. He impacted against the main sensor console on the other side of the room, which cracked under the extreme force of the impact. The same was true of Sporto's ribs, which faired no better. Sporto now lies on the floor, unconscious and in serious condition. It didn't end there, though. Solan, who was monitering ships systems at the pool table, had just enough time to see sporto sailing over his head when the force of the explosion knocked him over as well. He was not seriously injured though, and ran to the door to get help. He got there just in time to remeber that Sporto had locked the door, and that only a senior officer could open it. A few seconds later, Solan was overcome by the smoke and collapsed. Outside, the ship showed no indications of the explosion, except that every light and main system shut down, due to the safties on the core. Obiko Dozen-Handed Lieutenant Posts: 246 Join Date: 10-06-2002 Posted at 10:19 am, 21st June 2002 ON: Obiko heard Scooter's order come over the comm, but something told him that his captor wouldn't be sympathetic to pleas for help from Starfleet personell. The man stood crouched behind a console, phaser pointed intermittedly at Obiko and the door. Obiko's best hope was to wait for someone to come into sickbay, then hope they could both overpower this madman, or that Obiko could run out and leave whichever unfortunate entered to the man's mercy. Heroism or yellow-bellyism, a difficult choice. Certainly he would be demoted for leaving a fellow Starfleet officer to a terrorist, so he decided to try the hero's tactic. He turned to the man. "Why are you doing this?" The man jumped and Obiko winced, as his captor's hand almost trigged the phaser. "Because I hate your damn Starfleet hides! He couldnt face losing a valued officer and a friend, not after what happened in the Dominion war. <Flashback> Lieutenant Simmo was sat at the helm of the USS Tolstoy. They were about to engage the enemy. The Breen, Cardassians, and the terrifying Dominion. The Captain spoke: Captain Parker: "We're about to engage the enemy. All hands, good luck." The captain's comments always made the crew feel better, more assured of victory, but this was all about to change. They started to fire on a Dominion ship, when an energy bolt from a Breen warship disabled the ship. Nothing was responding, lights flickered, the helm was dead. All of the bridge officers reported malfunctions. When all of a sudden, a blast from a torpedo hit the ship. It sent the captain flying, he hit the helm console next to him, and he died right there. The first officer, and his best friend, Lieutenant Reynolds, Chief of Operations were also killed by that blast. They abandoned ship in the escape pods. He couldn't face losing his friend, and his colleague. Only 6 people survived from the Tolstoy, including himself, out of a crew of 260. <Back to normal time> It took a long time for Simmo to forget this memory and get over it, but a bomb onboard the ship, and crewmembers being seriously injured brought back the terrifying memory. <Enters Sickbay> Simmo: "How's Sporto?" Scooter: "He's fine sir, he'll make a full recovery in the next few days." Simmo: *Relieved* "Good." Scooter: "Sir, there's some bad news. Lieutenant?" Obiko: "Before Sporto fell unconscious again, he told us, the bomb, was a Dominion one." The horrible memory for Simmo came back in full. The Dominion had threatened his life too many times. Maloney: "Errr...negative, Lieutenant. Your...patients...have unusual transport signatures." At that moment Obiko felt a tightening around his neck, as the injured man hanging on his shoulder suddenly fastened his hand around it. Hearing the man's breath escape his lungs, he stamped on his foot, and rammed a headbutt into his lower jaw. His attacker dropped like a stone. Johnson: "I don't know, I thought I read an energy reading that looked like a lifeform, but it's gone now." Sporto: "Well, keep scanning, the control room is just ahead, let's keep mo..." *Suddenly, a bolt of light came across the room and hit Johnson. However, instead of burning or even vaporising her, the beam knocked her off her feet and she slid into the wall. Sporto pulled out his phaser in time to see manhunter firing in the direction of the attack. Sporto fired a few shots of his own as he ran to check on Johnson. We're right next to the control room. Let's go there and shut down the reactor. Hopefully, that should clear the radiation enough to get a message out." *The three exited the room and ran down the hall. They got to the door and Sporto used the manual override to get in. They closed the door behind them.* Sporto: "Johnson, get working on those controls." Manhunter: "Sir, I think you should look at this." *Sporto walked over to manhunter but didn't need to ask what it was. He saw for himself. On the floor was a body...of a Jem'Hadar soldier. He turned to see a Jem'Hadar soldier bringing his weapon to bear on manhunter. Sporto fired first, bringing the quiet hall to life in a frenzy of noise. His beam hit the soldier and he fell to the ground. Manhunter turned and aimed at Sporto, who knew well enough that that meant to duck. Manhunter fired over his head and another enemy went down. Once it was all over, the team didn't even think, they just kept moving, as they all knew what to do.* Johnson: "We're getting close to the exit." Sporto: "How far?" Johnson: "200 meters." *Another beam struck the wall next to them. They fired back and the hall was once again a battlezone. As they kept firing, Sporto noticed more and more enemy soldiers coming, and he knew right away that his little team couldn't hold them back.* Sporto: "There's too many of them! Let's go! Johnson: "80 meters!" *As they got further and further away from the center of the building, the hallways seemed to get more cluttered with debries. Johnson is sending you the coordinates.+ Maloney: +Received. On the way.+ *They ran around the corner to see...a solid wall with one door locked down tight* Johnson: "What now? The Jem'hadar just turned the corner then and were surprised to see that their prey wasn't running anymore. Sporto, manhunter, and Johnson took down 4 before they found cover as well. The trio might as well have taken out none of them, for there were so many that it wouldn't have made much of a difference. A continuous stream of phaser fire was exchanged between the two sides. Just then, manhunter's rifle shut down* Manhunter: "I'm out!" *Johnson threw him her phaser* Johnson: "Take mine!" Sporto thought to himself. Damn, we're pinned down! There's no way we can defeat the Jem'hadar with 2 half-charged phasers. We could get out that door if we had any explosives...wait...THAT'S IT!!! *Sporto pulled out and opened his toolkit. He modified his phaser. Once he was done, he hit the trigger and threw the phaser at the locked door. It hit the door with a loud clunk and fell to the ground. It then started to emit a high pitched whine that grew in intensity.* Sporto: "GET DOWN!" *Johnson and Manhunter hit the deck immediatley. What happened next reminded Sporto of engineering. The overloaded phaser exploded in a bright light and powerful shockwave that hit both he and everyone else in the vicinity with painful force. The same shock wave broke the door from it's hinges and sent it flying away from the plant like a cannonball.* Sporto: "Quick! Outside, now!" *They all got up and ran out of the gaping hole in the wall into the brightness of the day. A few moments later, the shuttle, attracted by the amazing spectacle, touched down a dozen meters away. Sporto, Johnson, and manhunter all ran those dozen yards and boarded the shuttle. Manhunter managed to get a few more shots off before the hatch sealed shut.* Sporto: "Good timing." Maloney: (grinning) "I try." Sporto: "Get us back to the ship."
